Serial Dilution System.

Optimize your serial dilution process.

Dilucup is a prefilled container with a sterile diluent used in combination with a purpose-built shaker, the Dilushaker.
Dilucup allows laboratories to standardize and secure the serial dilution process in for example Food Microbiology, Bio Industry and Paper Industry.

Easy as 1-2-3

1. Add 1 mL sample to the first Dilucup
2. Dilushake it
3. Collect and release 1 mL from the first cup to the next

LabRobot Products AB has invented, developed and patented the Dilucup System that makes serial dilutions easier, faster and more cost-effective.

The Dilucup System allows  standardisation of the dilution process and reduces the
variability between technicians, often observed in traditional microbiology.

Some years ago, the common way to dilute microbiological samples 1:10, 1:100, 1:1000, etc. was to prepare own test tubes. These tubes were filled with a diluent (for example Pepton-Salt), sterilized in an autoclave and then stored in a fridge. After use, the tubes needed to be emptied and washed in order to be ready to be filled again. This process was both time consuming and expensive. It could also happen that evaporation during autoclaving was uncontrolled, thus generating volume deviations able to affect the accuracy of the analysis.

Using the Dilucup System you simply:

  • Place the requested number of prefilled Dilucup on the Dilushaker
  • Tear off the protective film
  • Add 1 mL sample to the first Dilucup
  • Start the shaker by moving your hand in front of the optic sensor
  • When the Dilushaker stops, the 1:10 dilution is ready
  • With a new pipette tip, collect 1 mL from the first cup and release it into the second cup in order to perform the next dilution 1:100
  • Start the shaker by moving your hand in front of the optic sensor
  • Repeat this operation until the final dilution rate is reached

Cost saving

The reasonable cost of the ready-to-use Dilucups combined with the significant increase of the laboratory efficiency is contributing positively to the lab economy.

Save time

It’s much quicker to perform dilutions with Dilucup than with standard dilution tubes. Time saving can be up to 10 seconds/dilution step.

Prevent work injuries

The repeated use of a vortex mixer can generate Repetitive Strain Injuries. With Dilucup, all the vibrations are absorbed by the Dilushaker. The use of plastic materials is also a safety factor, should something go wrong.

Increase quality

This is obtained through the standardization of the dilution process (less variability) and the accurate volume of the diluent in the Dilucups. All Dilucup batches are quality controlled and delivered with a QC Certificate.

Easy storage

The sealed Dilucup boxes can be stored at room temperature up to 20 months.

Diluents.

A Dilucup is a small container pre-filled with 9 mL of a sterile diluent. It is available in blisters of seven rows of either three or six containers, designed to fit in the tray of a dedicated “Dilushaker”. The user opens the requested number of Dilucups by tearing-off a thin film that guarantees the sterility and the right volume in the cups.

LabRobot offers a range of 3 standard Dilucup Elegance products.

Dilushaker.

The Dilushaker III Digital has been developed in order to guaranty a smooth and effective use of Dilucups.

The shaking is started immediately through the activation of an optic sensor located in the front of the device. Rotation speed and shaking time are pre-set by the user, so that every dilution is processed according to the same protocol (time + speed).

Specifications:

  • Adjustable shaking time from 1 to 15 seconds per dilution step
  • Adjustable rotation speed (400, 500 or 600 rpm)
  • Removable tray for easy cleaning
  • Ramp with LED lights to guide the user
  • Adjustable direction of the ramp to suit both right- and left-handers
  • Adjustable number of dilution steps per sample
  • Steering by foot switch or optical sensor
