Standardize serial dilutions with the Dilucup® System
Dilucup® System is a semi-automated serial dilution system for microbiology laboratories. It replaces traditional dilution tubes and vortex mixers with ready-to-use sterile dilution cups and dedicated shakers, helping labs perform faster, more reproducible and more ergonomic decimal dilutions.

- When mixing with a vortex mixer, the timing and position of the tube can vary between samples. With the Dilucup® System, you ensure that you will always have the same mixing parameters and exactly the same diluent batch after batch.
- The Dilucup® System complies with ISO 7218:2024.
- Dilutions are always performed in the same way with the Dilucup® System, minimizing variability in sample processing between users and between laboratories.
Faster serial dilutions with the Dilucup® System
Dilucup® Elegance are ready-to-use dilution cups, meaning you save time on preparing diluents, filling dilution tubes, sterilizing, quality control, washing tubes, calibrating instruments, and more.
Furthermore, with the Dilucup® System, serial dilutions are performed twice as fast as with tubes and a vortex mixer.
How Dilucup® improves ergonomics and reduces repetitive strain injuries
- The movements of opening and closing the screw caps of the tubes and the vibrations from the vortex mixer are eliminated.
- Repetitive use of a vortex mixer can cause repetitive strain injuries. The Dilugent® Shaker absorbs all vibrations, and shaking is activated hands-free using either one of the two sensors or the foot pedal.
- The Dilugent® Shaker tray sits only 8 cm above the table, making pipetting from Dilucup® to Dilucup® comfortable and easy to do in a healthy posture.
Why are microbiological counts reliable with the Dilucup® System?
To obtain reliable microbiological counts, it is important to use the most accurate diluents as possible. Dilucup® Elegance offers highly accurate diluent volumes in all its batches, thus ensuring correct enumerations.

- Usually 9,0 mL ± 0,5 %
- Always 9,0 mL ± 2 % (according to ISO 6887-1:2017/Amd 1:2024)
Why is Dilucup® easy to use in routine microbiology?
Serial dilutions with the Dilucup® System are designed to be easy and intuitive.
Everything is ready to use. The user simply opens the desired number of Dilucups, begins diluting the samples, and follow the colours. Dilugent® Shaker indicates which Dilucup® to process at any given time and guides the user through the serial dilutions.
How Dilucup® simplifies storage compared with dilution tubes
As you may see on the picture, Dilucup® takes only half the space compared to 10 mL dilution tubes.
Dilucup®'s long shelf life makes it very convenient to store the pallets in the warehouse or few boxes in the laboratory.
Each box contains two separate bags with 336 Dilucups each, for a total of 672 Dilucups per box.
A full pallet holds 32 boxes, which is 21.504 Dilucups.
- Unopened bags can be stored up to 30 months at room temperature
- Opened bags: up to 3 months in the fridge.
Why is Dilucup® cost-effective for routine serial dilutions?
The Dilucup® System requires a bigger initial investment than dilution tubes, but is much more cost-effective in the long term.
It is important to take into account the smaller number of hours that the laboratory technician needs to perform serial dilutions.
The user saves all the time spent on preparation, sterilization, quality control, washing containers, calibrating instruments, etc., which translates into a significant reduction in labour hours. In addition, diluting with Dilucup® is twice as fast as with tubes, so additional time is saved in the process.
